Team Building in Michigan
Michigan is home to The Mackinac Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in the world. Connecting the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan, it spans 5 miles over the Straits of Mackinac, which is where Lake Michigan and Lake Huron meet. With the longest freshwater coastline in the world, Michigan is the only place in the world with a floating post office. A boat called The J.W. Westcott II delivers mail to ships while they are still underway and have been operating for more than a century. It has always been home to unique and driven people.

Michigan’s name is derived from Lake Michigan, which in turn is believed to come from a Chippewa Indian word mishi-gami, meaning "great water." Another story tells that the word Michigan originally referred to a clearing on the lower peninsula and was derived from the Chippewa Indian word "majigan" which means “clearing.” Lake Michigan was named after this clearing by European explorers in the area in the late 1600’s and the state later took the name of the clearing as well.
Michigan is primarily known as the birthplace of the automobile industry. Yet it is also home to a booming tourist industry, with destinations such as Traverse City, Mackinac Island, Saugatuck and the entire Upper Peninsula drawing multitudes of vacationers, hunters and nature enthusiasts from across the U.S. and Canada.
With Detriot known as the birthplace of the automobile, Michigan often brings to mind urban visions to those who have not yet been introduced to its majestic wilderness. Much of Michigan, about 50 percent, is actually remote forest land and it is bounded by four of the Great Lakes, giving Michigan the 2nd longest total shoreline in the U.S. and giving residents and visitors alike some of the most beautiful beaches to enjoy.
State nicknames include the “Wolverine State” and the “Great Lakes State.”
